Cold Weather = More Crocheting

I bought the yarn last year to make a large afghan and made a little bit of it before it got so warm that I couldn't stand having it in my lap. Now that the weather has finally hit the low 60s in the daytime it's time to pull it out again. My goal is to finish it before this winter is over!

Back on the crochet chain again!

It seems like it's been a long, hot summer, and so very humid in our desert. Not very enjoyable this year. I love the high temperatures; call me crazy but 105 is great. However, that's only when there isn't 30% or higher humidity to go along with it. So, with this kind of summer it's been a little tough for me to get out the hooks and crochet.

But now there are a few babies coming into the world soon and I just had to make sure they each have a special hat and blanket, crocheted by yours truly. When the sun sets I grab a hook and see how many rows I can complete before I can't stand the blanket on my lap. One blanket and hat are complete and the second blanket is now coming along. I began crocheting booties to go with the hats, too. I figured they were small enough that I could crochet them quickly and there wouldn't be anything in my lap. I found out I really don't like booties. They are much too small and tedious for me. :(

In addition to the baby goodies I have pulled out a hat I'm designing for the man in my life. He always complains that crochet is never warm enough and wants me to learn to knit. No thanks. Been there, done that. Instead, I've come up with a Tunisian crochet hat that I think might be warmer than any knit hat I can buy for him. When it's complete I will post the pattern. This isn't my first foray into pattern design, but it's the first Tunisian pattern I have worked. I am really hoping this works out!

That's about all for now. Happy hooking and may all of your odds and ends find a home :)
